Fulton Claims regarding discriminatory treatment ordinance (§ 2-314)

Chapter 2: Administration · Article IV. Officers and Employees

The personnel advisory board is specifically authorized to inquire into claims of alleged discriminatory treatment by the city and, for that purpose, may inquire into the treatment afforded to other employees of the city in the same or similar circumstance as the aggrieved employee who brings the matter before it. Any employee who has a claim of discriminatory or unequal treatment in violation of the laws of the United States or the state is expected to bring that complaint first to the personnel advisory board, although it is recognized that such employee is not legally required to do so. In addition, the personnel advisory board is entitled to consider claims of unfair or discriminatory treatment based upon categories, factors or characteristics that are not protected under state or federal law.
