US-54 in Callaway County: Airport Road Ramp Closes 3 Weeks

Sponsored by Southern Provisions

Westbound U.S. 54 loses its ramp to and from Callaway County Route W — also known as Cedar City Drive or Airport Road, in north Jefferson City — starting Monday, Nov. 2, for about three weeks.

The westbound U.S. 54 ramp to Airport Road was already closed; this closes the remaining direction, so there’s no access between Route W/Airport Road and westbound U.S. 54 during the closure. MoDOT says drivers should detour by taking eastbound U.S. 54 to the U.S. 63 interchange, then using U.S. 63 to get back onto westbound U.S. 54. The closure lets crews finish paving the new U.S. 63/U.S. 54 lane onto the Missouri River bridge; once that’s done, full interchange access returns, a new loop ramp onto westbound U.S. 54 opens, and a dedicated southbound U.S. 63 lane onto the bridge opens. It’s part of the U.S. 54 westbound highway widening project in Callaway and Cole counties — the same general Improve I-70/U.S. 54 corridor where crews narrowed I-70 near Cedar Creek last week. Dates are weather-dependent — check our road conditions page before you go.
