Central Methodist University in Fayette has won a five-year, $2 million federal grant to help first-year students settle in, stay enrolled and finish their degrees.
The U.S. Department of Education awarded the Title III Strengthening Institutions grant for a project CMU calls “Creating a Community of Belonging for Student Success,” the university announced Oct. 15. The money pays for a CMU Resource Hub, a new advising center called The Hangar and an expanded version of Take Flight, the school’s first-year class. Dr. Melissa Mace leads the project.
The Fayette Advertiser also reported the award.
CMU anchors Fayette, the Howard County seat, about 30 minutes north of Rocheport; our guide to Fayette’s courthouse square is a good place to start a visit. Fayette had more good news this month when Bekki Galloway won a state arbor award.
