Flu shots are available in Fayette on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Howard County Public Health Department, 600 W. Davis St. Walk-ins are welcome. You can also call ahead for an appointment.
Clinic hours on those days are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m., according to the department’s website. Shots are given to adults and to children 6 months and older.
What to Bring and What It Costs
Bring your Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare supplement cards. For people who pay out of pocket, the department’s website lists:
- $30 for the regular-dose vaccine (non-Medicare and private pay).
- $80 for the high-dose vaccine (people over 65 without insurance).
The website also says a limited supply of free flu vaccine is set aside for adults 19 and older. Prices and that free supply can change from season to season, so ask about both when you call: 660-248-3100.
Why Now
Flu season can begin as early as October and run into May, and a yearly shot is the best way to lower your risk, the department notes. Want to see whether flu is rising around here? See our guide to the CDC’s new flu trends tool.
The health department is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closes for lunch from noon to 1. For other help close to home, see where food pantries in Cooper, Howard and Boone counties are open.
