The Boonville Lions Club’s Halloween parade and costume contest steps off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, on Main Street in downtown Boonville, with prizes by age group.
Costumed walkers line up at Monument Park and the city lot next to the police department, starting at Morgan and Main streets, according to the Boonville and Cooper County community calendar. The parade heads south on Main Street to Laura Speed Elliott Middle School with the Boonville High School Band.
The costume contest follows in the middle school’s administration parking lot. Judges score creativity, effort and presentation, with prizes for ages 0–2, preschool, kindergarten–first grade, second–third grade and fourth–fifth grade, plus a band category.
The parade is on our events calendar. Closer to home, Rocheport celebrates the same afternoon at the Rocheport Halloween Party. Boonville High’s spirit was on display at homecoming last month, and Cooper County has been paying a higher sales tax for 911 and ambulances since Oct. 1.
