The Daily Rundown — Monday, July 13, 2026

·

Your five-minute catch-up for Monday, July 13. Here’s what matters on our stretch of the river this week.

Roads & I-70

Nighttime I-70 closures near the Rocheport bridge are still running. The Boonville-to-Rocheport widening project keeps up its intermittent overnight lane closures (7 p.m.–6 a.m., 11-foot width restriction) as it heads toward a 2027 finish — we covered the start of the closures back in May, and nothing about that pattern has changed.

Around the Counties

Boone County’s own rescue team is coming home today. Missouri Task Force One, based right here in Boone County, is expected back today after nearly a week helping with flood response in Reynolds and Iron counties down in southeast Missouri — searching more than 100 damaged structures and 120 damaged vehicles by boat and on foot, according to ABC 17 News. Good to have our neighbors home.

Boone County’s 911 radio system upgrade got $1.13 million more expensive. The county is moving its emergency dispatch system from old VHF radios to a modern 800MHz system, and the budget just grew from $8.17 million to $9.3 million as contracts were finalized, per ABC 17 News. It’s funded through the county’s 911/emergency management tax, the same one that helps pay for the dispatchers who answer when someone out here calls 911. Equipment starts arriving this week, with installation wrapped up by October.

Boonville’s library made its final move. The Boonslick Regional Library’s Cooper County branch closed its doors Monday to complete its move into the historic Kemper Campus building — we told the fuller story of that move last week; the branch is expected to reopen in about a month.

Outdoors & River

The river’s up a touch, nothing to worry about. The Missouri River gauge at Boonville read 11.23 feet this morning and is rising slowly — about four-tenths of a foot over the last 24 hours — with flow around 70,000 cubic feet per second. That’s a long way below the 18-foot action stage, so no flood concerns on our stretch right now.
