If you cross the I-70 bridge into Boone County after dark this spring, budget extra time: MoDOT’s weekly mid-Missouri roadwork notice, out May 1, flags intermittent single-lane nighttime closures on I-70 between mile markers 115 and 121 — and mile marker 115 is our bridge, MoDOT says. The closures run 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as crews do core drilling and shoulder strengthening, continuing through June.
It’s prep work, not the main event — this is groundwork ahead of the bigger third-lane build MoDOT broke ground on earlier this month between Boonville and Rocheport. But it’s the closest closure to town on the list, right at the east end of the bridge heading toward Columbia.
Why it matters here: an evening grocery run or a late drive back from Columbia could hit a single-lane squeeze right past the bridge through the end of June. Nothing closes during the day, and MoDOT says all of it is weather-permitting, so a wet stretch could push the schedule. Check the Improve I-70: Boonville to Rocheport page before a nighttime trip.
