Hallsville Solid Waste Deposit ordinance (§ 230.110)

Chapter 230: Solid Waste

In short: Trash service customers who don't use city water must pay a $75 deposit, refunded without interest when service ends and all bills are paid. It may be returned after two years if every monthly bill was paid by the 10th; the deposit is waived for past and current customers in good standing.

Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.

Each consumer of the City's solid waste service who is not a customer of the City's water distribution system, shall deposit the sum of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) with the City as a security deposit for the payment of City services used and billed. Upon any consumer discontinuing the use of the City's solid waste services, provided any bill for use of any City billed service is paid in full, the deposit shall be refunded to said person, without interest. In addition, the deposit may be returned after two (2) years if the consumer is in good credit standing; having paid every monthly bill for services by the 10th of each month. For prior and current consumers that remained in good credit standing with the City of Hallsville as described above, the deposit shall be waived.
