Chapter 110: Traffic and Vehicles · Article VII. Stopping, Standing and Parking
(a) Violators of subsection 110-318(a)(2)b, pertaining to prohibited parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, shall appear before the traffic violations bureau and upon establishment of guilt shall be fined no less than $40.00 plus costs of no more than $100.00 or by imprisonment for no more than 90 days or by both such fines and imprisonment.
(b) The fine upon admission of guilt for double parking, unlawfully parking in an EV charging station, or parking in a no parking zone, but not including parking in a no parking zone adjacent to a fire hydrant, shall be $20.00.
(c) The fine for overtime parking shall be $20.00 if paid within 72 hours. For payments sent through the U.S. mail, the date of the official postmark shall be deemed the date paid.
(d) If after 72 hours the fine provided for by subsection (c) of this section has not been paid to the traffic violations bureau, the fine for overtime parking shall be $40.00. If after five days the fine provided by subsection (b) of this section has not been paid to the traffic violations bureau, the fine for double parking and parking in a no parking zone shall be $40.00. The traffic violations bureau clerk shall send a written notice to the violator at his last known address by ordinary mail, which notice shall specify the nature of the offense and give the violator five days in which to pay the increased fine. If the violator does not pay such increased fine or otherwise appear in answer to the charge within the time allowed, a warrant shall be issued for his arrest and upon conviction he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and liable as such as if the options granted by subsection (b) or (c) of this section had not been given. The form of the written notice required in this subsection shall contain at least the following information:
(1) The nature of the offense;
(2) The date of the offense;
(3) The fact that the violator has five days in which to either plead guilty and pay the prescribed penalty or plead guilty and appear before the judge;
(4) The amount of the fine if paid within the time prescribed; and
(5) The fact that, if the violator does not appear and pay the fine within the time allowed, a warrant may be issued for his arrest and he will be subject to prosecution as in any other case.
(e) Violations of section 110-347, recreational vehicle parking in the downtown area, shall be subject to a fine of $100.00, and the vehicle may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense. The owner of the vehicle shall also be liable for any towing and storage charges as provided in section 110-311 of this Code.
