Fayette Leave of Absence ordinance (§ 125.800)

Chapter 125: Personnel Administration System · Article VI. Leaves

An employee may request a leave of absence (LOA) not to exceed accrued vacation and compensatory time. The Superintendent will review each request individually. Vacations and other departmental leaves already approved will have first priority. The Superintendent will inform the City Administrator or Public Works Director of whatever portion of the leave they feel will negatively impact department functioning. Additionally, the Superintendent will submit a written plan for coverage during the employees LOA that has been signed off on by any other Superintendent whose department or employees are impacted. This plan, along with the Superintendent's recommendation if the leave should be granted and the period to be granted, is submitted to the City Administrator or Public Works Director for final approval by the Board of Aldermen. Unpaid leave may also be requested and will be considered, but will have a lower priority than paid leave.
