Missouri River Relief is teaching free catfishing lessons at Cooper’s Landing near Rocheport on Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 15, but both days are nearly booked.
Missouri River Relief, the Columbia nonprofit that runs the river clean-ups, lists its fall lessons on its website. As of Oct. 30 the Nov. 7 lesson had a waitlist and the Nov. 15 lesson was marked full.
What to know
- Cost: free.
- Where: Cooper’s Landing Riverside Resort & Marina, on the Missouri River just outside Rocheport.
- How long: each lesson lasts 1.5 hours. You choose a time slot between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The group says times may vary for special events.
- Sign-up: registration is required because space is limited. Columbia Parks and Recreation handles registration through the city’s online system (WebTrac).
- Questions: email River Relief’s education coordinator, Lara Cox, at lara@riverrelief.org.
The lessons are meant for beginners and families. If you want a spot on a waitlist or a later date, ask River Relief when it plans more lessons. Cooper’s Landing is also where the group held its 25th anniversary party this month.
