New Franklin will hold a public hearing next Thursday on a request to rezone about 7.6 acres along Union Avenue from multifamily housing to light industrial.
The hearing is Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at New Franklin City Hall, 130 E. Broadway, according to a public notice from the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission. Anyone with an interest in the change will get a chance to speak.
Where Is the Land?
The notice describes a tract of 7.59 acres, more or less, along the west side of Union Avenue. The survey starts at a point 50 feet north of the old M.K.&T. railroad main track. That old Katy railroad line is the route the Katy Trail follows through New Franklin.
The case is Application No. 2026-01, on parcel 17-9.0-29-004-000-008.000. The notice does not name who asked for the change or what they plan to build.
