Labor Day in Rocheport has a standing tradition, and it’s happening again this Monday: Pig in the Park, the town’s annual community potluck, runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on September 7 in Rocheport.
The setup is simple and familiar if you’ve been before. Organizers are providing pork sliders; everyone else brings a dish based on the first letter of their last name — A through G brings an appetizer, H through N a side dish, and O through Z dessert. Bring your own lawn chair, plates, utensils, and something to drink.
It isn’t just a cookout. Limited commemorative t-shirts will be for sale, and proceeds from those sales — along with any additional donations — go directly to the Rocheport Parks Department, which keeps the town’s public green spaces running.
It’s a low-key evening: no tickets, no program, just neighbors sharing a meal in the park before summer winds down. If you’re new to town or just haven’t made it out before, this is as easy an entry point as there is — show up hungry, bring a side, and expect to see people you know.
Full event details are on the Times events calendar, as shared in Diane’s weekly roundup.
