Kingdom City Requirements Regarding Floodway Data ordinance (§ 405.170)

Chapter 405: Floodplain Management · Article IV. Specific Standards

A. In all areas of special flood hazard, once floodway data is obtained, as set forth in Section 405.120, the following minimum standards are required:

1. The designated floodway is based on the standard that the area chosen for the floodway must be able to carry the waters of the base flood, without increasing the water surface elevation more than one (1) foot at any point.

2. No encroachment (including fill) and no new construction, substantial improvements, or other development within the designated regulatory floodway shall be permitted unless it has first been demonstrated through hydrologic and hydraulic analyses performed in accordance with standard engineering practice that the proposed encroachment would not result in any increase in flood levels within the community during the occurrence of the base flood discharge.
