Glasgow Collection Vehicles ordinance (§ 230.160)

Chapter 230: Solid Waste

In short: Vehicles that collect solid waste must be kept safe, clean and sanitary, have watertight bodies, and not spill. They need a built-in or fully fastened cover that is secured while hauling (or an enclosed body with only the loading hoppers exposed), and no waste may be carried in the hoppers.

Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.

All collection vehicles shall be maintained in safe, clean and sanitary condition, and shall be so constructed, maintained and operated as to prevent spillage of solid waste therefrom. All vehicles to be used for collection of solid waste shall be constructed with watertight bodies and with covers which shall be an integral part of the vehicle, or shall be a separate cover of suitable material with fasteners designed to secure all sides of the cover to the vehicle and shall be secured whenever the vehicle is transporting solid waste, or as an alternate, the entire bodies thereof shall be enclosed, with only loading hoppers exposed. No solid waste shall be transported in the loading hoppers.
