Fulton Composition; probationary period for firefighters ordinance (§ 50-57)

(a) The fire department established pursuant to this article shall have a fire chief, four captains and such other members as may be required. The structure of the department shall be recommended by the fire chief to the director of administration who shall have the authority to implement the structure with the consent of the council.

(b) One of the four captains shall be designated as assistant fire chief pursuant to section 50-58. He shall have authority to act in the absence of the fire chief and shall assume other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

(c) No person shall be granted full tenure as a regular firefighter until such person shall have satisfactorily completed a probationary period of 12 months.
