Fulton Persons carrying white canes ordinance (§ 110-441)

Chapter 110: Traffic and Vehicles · Article IX. Pedestrians

In short: Only people who are wholly or partially blind may carry a white cane or one white with a red tip on city streets and public places.

Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.

For the purpose of guarding against accidents, it is declared unlawful for any person not wholly or partially blind to carry or use upon the streets, highways or public places of this city any cane or walking stick which is white in color or white tipped in red. The term "white in color" as used in this section means painted or enameled, and not an unpainted or natural wood color. Such white canes or walking sticks may be used on the streets or in other public places of the city by persons wholly or partially blind as a means of identifying them to drivers or operators of vehicles and for the purpose of protecting them from injury by such vehicles.
