Fayette Billings: When Payments Due ordinance (§ 700.020)
Chapter 700: General Provisions
A. The statement shall be maintained at the City offices or mailed on the last day of each month to each customer. It will be the responsibility of the customer to make arrangements for paying for services rendered.
B. All accounts are due and payable by the 15th of the month, unless the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, of each month without penalty. On the 16th of each month, any account still remaining unpaid is considered delinquent and a penalty of ten percent (10%) will be added. Payment made on charges may be paid by cash or check. If a check is returned from the customer's bank unpaid for any reason, the customer will be notified by mail. The customer shall bring the account up to date within five (5) business days with cash or money order only, plus the penalty of ten percent (10%) will be added as the customer is in delinquent status. A charge of ten dollars ($10.00) will be added because of added administrative labor required in processing returned checks and ten dollars ($10.00) for bank fees. If two (2) checks are returned during any one (1) calendar year, the City will not accept checks for services rendered thereafter.
C. Service bills not paid by the 21st shall be subject to a ten percent (10%) late charge. Failure to pay for services rendered by the 21st of the month following due date of services shall result in the termination of municipal utility services. The City may in its discretion shut off services at one (1) time or discontinue part of the services and continue the remainder.
D. If the City disconnects electrical service, water or sewer services, the customer must pay all reconnection charges heretofore established by ordinance, and pay all delinquent charges for all utility service prior to the reinstatement of service.
