Columbia Use of siren whistles limited ordinance (§ 9-4)

Chapter 9: Fire Prevention and Protection · Article I. In General

In short: Siren whistles are off-limits unless they're on fire or police vehicles or otherwise tied to fire work, or you first get the fire chief's permission. Owners can't allow others to use one without that permission either.

Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.

It shall be unlawful for any person to use, or for the owner thereof to permit to be used, any siren whistle which is not installed either on fire or police apparatus, or in some way pertaining to fire, without first obtaining permission from the fire chief.
