Columbia Same—Parking ordinance (§ 13-190)

Chapter 13: Licenses, Permits and Miscellaneous Business Regulations · Article VII. Waste Haulers

In short: Waste haulers based in the city must have approved off-street garaging or parking on lots in non-residential zones. Parking a waste hauling vehicle on a public street or residential property is illegal, except while picking up items as a licensed hauler.

Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.

(a) Adequate facilities for garaging or parking waste collection vehicles on private off-street lots located in areas zoned other than for residential use are required if vehicles are housed within the city. Parking facilities must be approved by the director.

(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to park a waste hauling vehicle on a public street, or on private property used for residential purposes, except while picking up items for hauling as a licensed waste hauler.
