Appendix A: Subdivision Regulations

In short: Landowners may not divide land into lots without an approved plat, and no lots may be sold or plat recorded until the plat is approved.

Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.

It shall be unlawful for any person being the owner, agent or person having control of any land within the City of Boonville, Missouri, to subdivide or lay out such land in lots unless by a plat, in accordance with the regulations contained herein. No lots shall be sold nor any plat recorded until such plat has been approved as herein provided.

A person seeking to subdivide land as a "minor subdivision" shall file a written statement with the building inspector, indicating the nature of the transaction. If it is determined by the building inspector that such transaction qualifies as a "minor subdivision", the subdivider may not be required to file a preliminary plan and may proceed with the preparation of a final plat, as prescribed herein. Submissions for minor subdivisions to the commission must include responses to the required information on preliminary plans and final plats as prescribed herein. Survey plats may be submitted and then accepting in lieu of final plats at the discretion of the city council.
