Boonville Location of containers ordinance (§ 21-124)
Chapter 21: Waters, Sewers and Solid Waste Disposal · Article IV. Solid Waste Disposal
In short: Put trash containers in plain view at the front curb, or at an approved alley; residential containers may be out only from 6:00 p.m. the evening before collection to 6:00 p.m. on collection day.
Our plain-English summary, not the official text or legal advice. The ordinance below is what counts.
(a) Containers in which solid waste is placed shall be located in plain view adjacent to the front curb of the building, in an accessible location at or near ground level. Containers may be located adjacent to an alley or private driveway if the director determines that such alley or private drive is accessible for transportation. If more than one container is necessary to hold the solid waste of such customer, all containers shall be located at the same location.
(b) Any occupant may request from the director that solid waste be collected at the rear exit of the building, if they are physically unable to place such waste in a location approved under paragraph (a) of this section. The director may, however, deny such requests. If denied, occupants may appeal this decision to the citizen board which will then make a final decision.
(c) Containers on residential property shall only be placed in locations allowed under paragraphs (a) and (b) of this section and shall be placed in such location between 6:00 p.m. the evening preceding collection and 6:00 p.m. the day of collection. At all other times, such containers shall be out of public view.
(d) Areas around the containers shall be kept in good and sanitary condition by the owner or lessee. Dogs which are controlled by chain or fence must be situated so an area of ten (10) feet around refuse cans and an area ten (10) feet either side of the normal access route to the refuse cans is maintained as a safe route for refuse pickup.
(e) The director has the authority to require any mechanically loaded dumpster be placed on a hard surface in a confined location which does not hamper, restrict, or impair collection. Appeals of the director's decision may be made to the citizen which will make a final decision.
