Your five-minute catch-up for Tuesday, August 18. Here’s what matters on our stretch of the river today.

Around the Counties

Cooper County’s hazard mitigation plan is open for public comment. The Cooper County Hazard Mitigation Plan — the county’s blueprint for reducing damage from floods, storms, and other disasters — is open for public review and comment through the Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission from August 14 through September 11. If you’ve got thoughts on how the county should prepare for the next big storm, this is the window to weigh in. (Boonville Daily News)

Happening Soon

Locals Night returns to Katy’s Fork in the Trail Thursday. Head to Katy’s Fork in the Trail at 4pm Thursday, August 20, for the regular Locals Night dinner and gathering. (event details)

Live music at the Winery this weekend. The Rocheport Winery at Mount Nebo Inn has Joe Devoy on piano Friday, August 21 at 7pm, followed by West Wingate and Friends on Saturday, August 22, also at 7pm. (Friday · Saturday)

Outdoors & River

The river’s on the rise. The Missouri River gauge at Boonville read 6.98 feet this morning, trending upward — still well below flood stage, but worth keeping an eye on if you’re planning to be on or near the water this week.

Roads & I-70

Several projects to route around this week. In Cooper County, preventative maintenance on Route 135 between I-70 and the Pettis County line has one lane open through October. In Boone County, bridge work continues to close the Providence Road ramps near I-70 through late October, alongside several other outer-road and interchange closures in the same stretch. In Howard County, pavement repairs on Routes 129 and T run through Thursday with one lane open. Full list of this week’s mid-Missouri road work via KOMU.
