Boone Health’s Mastectomy Program Earns National Accreditation

·

Boone Health has some news worth celebrating this week: its mastectomy program has earned accreditation from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC), a national body that sets standards for post-mastectomy care.

The accreditation covers Boone Health’s post-mastectomy breast prostheses and accessories — the fitted bras, forms, and other products patients rely on after breast surgery. Earning it means the hospital’s program has met a set of established national standards for quality, fit, and patient care in this specific corner of recovery.

For patients, that translates into something simple and welcome: knowing the people helping them through a hard chapter are certified specialists, not generalists learning on the fly.

“For our patients, this means having access to the support and specialized care they need at an incredibly important time in their lives. I am proud that we can provide that level of care right here in our community,” said Anne Peterson of Boone Health.

It’s a quiet kind of good news — no ribbon-cutting, no big check — but it’s exactly the sort of thing that matters most when someone is going through it: knowing that close to home, in Columbia, there’s a program that’s been vetted and certified to help you get your footing back after mastectomy surgery.

Boone Health serves patients across the tri-county area, so this is a resource worth knowing about even if breast cancer recovery isn’t on your mind today — you never know when a neighbor, a parent, or a friend might need to know where to look.
