Dinner at the fire station
The Friends of Rocheport Historical Society serves its chili, ham and bean and hot dog dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rocheport Fire Station on Central Street. It is all you can eat, with a hot dog, dessert and a drink, for $15 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under, at the door. Every meal ticket goes into a drawing for a Boone County country-cured ham donated by Steve and Lynda Baumgartner. There is also a bake sale, a silent auction and live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds go to the Rocheport Museum renovation. More on the dinner.
The Reader’s Roper Romp
The Reader’s Roper Romp runs all day from 11 a.m. at the Daniel Boone Regional Library’s bookmobile, parked between Meriwether Cafe and the winery at 801 1st St. The Helen Roper costume contest and group photo are at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include a raffle for a basket from the Rocheport Area Merchants Association. The money goes to the library’s campaign to replace its bookmobiles, which stop on Central Street. The library’s first gala for the campaign raised more than $50,000 last weekend.
