It took me a hot minute to realize, “I just found a sister Rocheport on Mars”!? What the heck? I read the article and sure enough, someone involved with the Opportunity Mars Rover named a ridge after the town of Rocheport. Don’t know what that means for the town, but it sure is awesome to know we’ve gone stellar!
Opportunity, on February 25, 2017, took a panoramic on:
” A ridge called “Rocheport” on the western rim of Mars’ Endeavour Crater spans this stereo scene from the panoramic camera (Pancam) on NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity. The mosaic combines views from the left eye and right eye of the Pancam to appear three-dimensional when seen through blue-red glasses with the red lens on the left. “
