The drive into Rocheport
A lot of road work is continuing around Rocheport, so plan your trip to take a little bit longer than usual. Also, you can expect a lot of traffic for the festival weekend compared to previous years. In the past, attendees numbered around 2,500. This year we are expecting it to double, adding about a 1,000 more cars coming in for the festival.
A lot of signs will be posted by the festival folks to direct people where to park. I suggest you save time and park at the event parking which will be up the hill at the Les Bourgeois Winery where a shuttle will bring people down to the event. Most likely, in town parking is quickly going to fill up early on in the day.
Security, policing, and medical care
The Highway Patrol and Boone County Sheriffs will be patrolling the surrounding area all weekend, including 240/40 and BB. Please be safe and courteous to all the drivers and cyclists on the road this weekend and reduce your speed.
The event security is going to have a larger presence this year because of the larger crowd. They are here to help and keep us safe.
My understanding is that there will be either an ambulance on stand by or a medical station posted at the festival.
Planning, prepping, and participating
There are no ATMs in Rocheport. If you plan on paying for parking in town, it would be a good idea to bring cash.
As far as bathroom facilities, there will be portable toilets at the event grounds.
Rocheport has some hills, so be mindful when picking out your shoes for the day. Remember your sunblock, sunglasses, and/or hat as this event is entirely outdoors and held in an open field.
There will be more food vendors stationed at the festival than in the past, so the the hope is that the lines will be shorter and the food supply will be plentiful. Like many festivals, food lines can be long, so don’t wait until you are hungry or hangry to get in line.
Event parking – Free for all and one for fee
The event organizers have secured parking at Les Bourgeois Winery and its various properties and are encouraging people to park in these designated locations outside of Rocheport proper. Signs will direct you to the parking and a shuttle bus will be available for people to go back and forth from their car to the festivities in Rocheport. All of this is provided free to attendees.
As far as parking in town, the lot at the corner of Pike and 1st Street, will be available to park in for $20. Parking here allows you to leave your car until the close of the festival day. However, if you leave and want to reenter, it is another $20. Payment for this parking will be cash only!
Please be mindful of private spaces and yards and do not park on a private lawn or you may get towed at your own expense. Here is more about parking in Rocheport.
Support our local businesses
This is the first year the local businesses of Rocheport will be represented on the festival grounds alongside other outside vendors. Be sure to stop by the booths for Tasteful Findings, Southern Provisions, and Shirahaze Gallery and support our local businesses!
Also, around town, all the shops are going to be open during the day.
After festival hours – There is still more!
If you don’t get enough of the music, food and libations at the festival, Mount Nebo Wine Bar is the only bar that will be open until midnight both Friday and Saturday. Their offerings are wine, beer and spirits, a variety of options to suit almost any palate. Mount Nebo has a lovely outdoor patio, a fire pit, hammocks, and great times.
