Air Link’s high-speed fiber rollout is still in progress

We are moving into a new phase of telecommunications in Rocheport. Phase 4 of Airlink's high-speed fiber is almost ready for subscribers. We are checking for start dates.

ROCHEPORT, Mo — Mayor John Zondca posted a flyer from Air Link on the Rocheport Facebook page that states Air Link’s Rural Broadband is bringing its high-speed fiber internet to Rocheport.

Rocheport has indeed, as Air Link points out, “needed dependable broadband service” for some while and residents are hoping Air Link’s high-speed fiber will be a good solution.

However, Air Link’s coverage map shows Rocheport, ROCH-02-008, to be “In Progress,” offering no other information. I called Air Link to find out exactly when their high-speed fiber would be available in Rocheport and how much it will cost and was not able to get viable information. I received a follow-up email from Air Link’s Customer Support Squad saying, “Thank you for taking the time to inquire about our fiber project! Fiber is not yet ready in your neighborhood. While we currently don’t have any exact time frames, we’ll retain your information & reach out to you as soon as your area becomes available for sale. We’re still pretty early in the project, so continue to check back in on the map at airlinkfiber.com for updates.”

So, to sum up what we know at this point, it is still early on to determine when Air Link’s high-speed fiber internet will be ready to utilize in Rocheport. Until then, we remain in the nebulous “in progress.”

As a reminder, on November 8, 2022 Rocheport citizens passed the ballot measure, reprinted here from the Daniel Boone Regional Library Nov. 8, 2022 Election Guide, granting Air Link the right to operate in Rocheport:

“PROPOSITION 2: AIR LINK RURAL BROADBAND, LLC
Shall Ordinance No. 2022-03 granting the right, permission and authority to Air Link Rural Broadband, LLC and its affiliates to construct, maintain, and operate, in the City of Rocheport, County of Boone, State of Missouri, a system for the sale, transmission and distribution of internet service and related purposes for a term of twenty (20) years from and after the acceptance of this ordinance, be ratified and approved?”

We will continue to monitor the information and availability of high-speed fiber internet and update this article as new information becomes available.
