White-tailed Deer

White-tailed Deer — Rocheport nature

Town edges, particularly near the river bluffs

White-tailed deer are plentiful throughout the Rocheport area. They browse garden plants, ornamental shrubs, and agricultural fields. Most active at dawn and dusk. During the November rut, bucks are more frequently seen crossing roads — use extra caution driving. Fawns (born May–June) are sometimes found alone in tall grass; they are not abandoned.
