Around the Counties
Boonville opens its football season tonight, hosting Excelsior Springs after a solid showing in this week’s jamboree against Centralia and Macon, according to the Boonville Daily News. Kickoff time wasn’t listed, but if you’re headed that way, expect a crowd.
MoDOT wants your input on two aging bridges in Howard County. The department is taking public comment through September 17 on plans to replace two bridges carrying county roads over the CPKC Railroad, and it’s holding an in-person open house on September 3 in Armstrong for anyone who’d rather look at the plans face to face, per MoDOT.

Roads & I-70
Mark your calendar if you commute through Columbia: MoDOT is narrowing westbound I-70 to one lane from September 11 through 14 to set girders for the new flyover ramp connecting U.S. 63 to I-70, part of the ongoing Improve I-70 work, per MoDOT.
Closer to home, MO-163 (Providence Road) and the I-70 outer roads near it remain closed in spots for ongoing construction, per our live road-closure feed — plan an alternate route if that’s your way in or out of Columbia.
