If you haven’t been up to the A-Frame Winegarden on a Friday evening this summer, you’re missing the best two hours of the week in Rocheport. Every Friday through July, Les Bourgeois Vineyards is running its Summer Music Series on the blufftop above the river — live music, wine in hand, sun going down over the valley. It’s the kind of evening you plan around, not squeeze in.
Tonight’s show (July 10) features ZamboniFunk, a funk-and-reggae act built around cosmic imagery and a loose, danceable groove — a good fit for a warm evening on the deck, according to the event listing from Missouri Life Magazine. That’s confirmed on Visit Columbia’s events calendar as well, which lists the same date, time, and venue.
The series doesn’t stop there. Here’s what’s on the calendar for the rest of July, all according to Missouri Life’s event listings:
- July 17 — the A Frame Trio, featuring vocalist Liz Cordray
- July 24 — Compass Inc.
- July 31 — the Linda Bott Experience
All four shows start at 6 p.m. and run to about 9, same as every Friday in the series.
A word on where to actually go, since “Les Bourgeois” covers a few different spots on the property: the music happens at the A-Frame Winegarden, the open-air deck at 14020 W. Hwy BB — not the sit-down Bistro next door, which has been reservations-only for private events for a while now. The A-Frame is the casual, order-at-the-counter side of the operation: wine by the glass, a picnic-style menu of charcuterie and baskets, and the view that’s made it a fixture for over three decades. It’s open daily, noon to 9 p.m., through October.
If you’re coming from town, it’s a quick drive or an easy ride if you’re already out on the Katy Trail — the A-Frame sits right off the bluffs the trail runs under, so plenty of cyclists roll in for a glass and a song before heading back. Get there early on a good-weather Friday; there’s no ticket, but the deck fills up once word gets around, and it’s first-come for a table.
One practical note: none of the listings mention rain plans, so if the forecast turns on a given Friday, it’s worth a call to the venue at (573) 698-3401 before you drive out.
Rocheport Times will keep an eye on the calendar for whether the series extends into August — check back or watch our events page for updates.
