D.C. Rogers Recreation Area in Fayette is back open, the City of Fayette said in a social media post Thursday, closing out a stretch of closures that started with June’s heavy rain, ABC17 reports. The lake had been shut since June 4 while crews lowered the water level 5 to 7 inches to protect an in-progress wing wall repair, which meant closing the access road for the pump-down work in mid-June too.
Peters Lake, the smaller lake upstream that started this whole chain when its spillway washed out back on June 4, is still closed. No reopening date has been given for it.
