Rocheport votes every April. Here is the plain version: when it happens, what is on your ballot, how to get on it, where you actually vote, and where the results show up.
When it happens
Missouri holds its general municipal election on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April, every year. In 2026 that falls on April 7. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., per the Boone County Clerk.
What is on the ballot
Rocheport runs on a mayor and a two-ward Board of Alderpersons, and the seats come up on a set pattern. In odd years you vote for one Ward 1 and one Ward 2 alderperson; in even years you vote for those two seats plus the mayor. Terms run two years. That schedule comes straight from the City of Rocheport. Some Aprils, state and county questions ride along on the same ballot too, from school levies to constitutional amendments.
How to get on the ballot
To run for a city office, you file with the Rocheport city clerk during the candidate filing window. The window opens in mid-December and closes at the end of December before the April election. For the April 2026 election it ran December 9 through December 30, 2025, according to the Missouri Secretary of State’s election calendar. The exact dates shift a little year to year, so confirm the current window with the city clerk before you count on it.
Where you vote
Rocheport’s polling place is at 1012 N. Highway UU in Columbia, which covers precincts 18, 19, and 38, according to the City of Rocheport. If you are not sure which precinct you are in, or whether you are registered, the Boone County Clerk runs a “Where Do I Vote?” lookup along with online registration and absentee and mail-in ballot requests. You need to be registered about four weeks out: the Missouri deadline is the fourth Wednesday before the election, which was March 11 for the April 7, 2026 vote. The clerk mails every registered voter a sample ballot and a polling-place notice about two weeks ahead.
