Each February, the small river town of Rocheport turns into a chocolate lover’s afternoon. The Rocheport Chocolate Crawl is a self-guided tour through downtown where participating shops, galleries, cafés, tasting rooms, and inns each offer a chocolate treat or pairing. It’s one of the most anticipated events on the local calendar — delicious, walkable, and it tends to sell out, so tickets are worth grabbing early. They typically run $20–$25 per person, and only a few hundred are sold.
The Crawl usually runs midday into the afternoon, giving you a few hours to wander at your own pace through the brick-lined streets. Each stop offers something a little different — maybe a dark chocolate truffle paired with a local wine, a warm dessert from a café kitchen, or a confection dreamed up by a gallery or boutique. No two stops are alike, and that variety is a big part of the fun. Past stops have included the Les Bourgeois tasting room, Meriwether Café, the Rocheport General Store, Southern Provisions, Stockton Mercantile, Art Off the Trail, Shirahaze Gallery, Friends of Rocheport, Noble Strings and several of the town’s bed-and-breakfasts.
Rocheport sits right on the Katy Trail and the Missouri River bluffs — a pretty little town any time of year, but February gives you an excuse to explore it when things are quieter and the charm is still fully intact. The Chocolate Crawl is equal parts tasting event, neighborhood stroll, and community celebration: the kind of afternoon where you bump into locals, find a shop you’d never been in, and leave with a full heart and a fuller stomach. Bring your friends, your partner, or your family — just don’t forget your ticket. Tickets go fast when they’re announced, so keep an eye on our events calendar.
