The access road into D.C. Rogers Lake’s recreation area in Fayette closed again this week, this time on purpose. Crews are pumping the lake down 5 to 7 inches to take pressure off a wing wall repair that got damaged by the early-June storms, and two 16-inch pipes now run right across the road to do it, ABC17 reports.
It’s the second closure at this recreation area in two weeks — Peters Lake, upstream, closed June 4 after its spillway washed out, and D.C. Rogers is downstream of it, so the two closures are connected. No length of closure was given.
Why it matters here: same note as before — if Fayette’s lakes are part of your usual loop out from Rocheport, both are effectively off-limits right now, one for spillway damage and one for active pump-down work. Worth checking the City of Fayette’s page before you drive over.
