Route 124, the back way a lot of us use toward New Franklin and Fayette, is getting culvert work this spring and summer. MoDOT’s May 1 mid-Missouri roadwork notice lists culvert replacements on Route 124 in Boone and Howard counties running through July 2026, MoDOT says, without a lot of extra detail beyond the window.
Culvert work usually means short single-lane stretches with flaggers rather than a full road closure, but MoDOT’s notice doesn’t spell out exact mile markers or dates within that four-month window, so it’s worth watching rather than assuming a clear run every time you head that way.
Why it matters here: Route 124 is the quieter alternative to I-70 for anyone splitting time between Rocheport and the New Franklin/Fayette side of the river, and it’s exactly the kind of road where a surprise flagger stop eats ten extra minutes. If you’re making that drive regularly this summer, build in a little slack.
