What is up with Est. 1868?
When we decided to establish Rocheport Times as a local news source, we researched the history of the town’s newspapers. We discovered there were several over time. Now, depending on your classification of a newspaper, the number can go from three to five. Friends of Rocheport listed the answer to a trivia question as three as listed in their October 21, 2021 newsletter. The answers given were as:

We are not claiming to be 100% accurate. We have yet to go to the Missouri Historical Society, Saint Louis, MO or the State Historical Society of Missouri, Columbia, MO.
So, as we went through possible names for our publication, we selected Rocheport Times. We decided to pay an homage to the original and first newspaper in Rocheport, MO. We let it sink in and test the name. It did not take long to realize, it was the name for us. The name Rocheport Times has not been used for over 150 years and we feel like it’s time to revive some history with current times.
We hope that the community embraces our decision to revive an old name in history and make it new again.
